I took my rig out to the park today for the first time since moving. While taking a break, a man walks up to the silks with his baby and starts messing with them.
“Sir, don’t mess with those… Sir. Sir! Stop!”
He won’t stop, so I stand up and walk towards him.
“Excuse me, but you shouldn’t mess with those. It’s a liability issue…”
“I wasn’t messing with them.”
“Um, I just saw you and I told you to stop.”
“I heard you, I just didn’t listen.”
That floored me; he was so obtuse and such an asshole about it. His wife had even said to him, “don’t go near those [silks]”, but he seemed like the defiant, I-don’t-have-to-listen-to-women type. So, I turned around to the group of friends I was with…
“IT’S OKAY, GUYS, HE’S JUST A JACKASS. HE HEARD ME, HE JUST DIDN’T THINK HE NEEDED TO LISTEN.”
Considering how rude he was, I thought he might come at me for yelling that across the park. He didn’t, because a woman walked over and said, “I’m a witness. She told you to stop.”. So, he quickly left the park.
