If you liked the aerialist painting, you can have a piece for yourself. Tomorrow, I’ll be photographing the piece as a whole before cutting it down into 4x6” sections you can purchase for $6 (postage included) each. I promise that you will receive a piece with paint on it (I promise not to send out negative space… Unless you want negative space, but you’d have to let me know).
All funds received will go toward my aerial studio - for silks, ropes, crash mats, straps, and the big move happening in October. 100% of the moneyz. To the studio. Not shoes, chocolate, or a BMW. I don’t even like BMWs.
Sit tight for an update tomorrow here and on my website, riothooping.com, where you’ll be able to purchase the aerialist painting sections.
I took my rig out to the park today for the first time since moving. While taking a break, a man walks up to the silks with his baby and starts messing with them.
“Sir, don’t mess with those… Sir. Sir! Stop!”
He won’t stop, so I stand up and walk towards him.
“Excuse me, but you shouldn’t mess with those. It’s a liability issue…”
“I wasn’t messing with them.”
“Um, I just saw you and I told you to stop.”
“I heard you, I just didn’t listen.”
That floored me; he was so obtuse and such an asshole about it. His wife had even said to him, “don’t go near those [silks]”, but he seemed like the defiant, I-don’t-have-to-listen-to-women type. So, I turned around to the group of friends I was with…
“IT’S OKAY, GUYS, HE’S JUST A JACKASS. HE HEARD ME, HE JUST DIDN’T THINK HE NEEDED TO LISTEN.”
Considering how rude he was, I thought he might come at me for yelling that across the park. He didn’t, because a woman walked over and said, “I’m a witness. She told you to stop.”. So, he quickly left the park.
Have you guys met my friend, Saje? I trained with her years back and we’re planning on collaborating, aerial-wise, in the future.
She’s a doll and you should go show her some love, right here. And here.
For a limited time, I’ve marked down The Aerialist’s Companion on MagCloud in celebration of my move to the snowy north. You can get your print copy for $20 (reg. $26) and the digital version for $16 (reg. $20). Jump on it!
And I know how people have had drama llama moments about the pinned posts. Calm the fuck down. Click the red pin and this will go away.
So, you guys know I do guest workshops, right? If you think your aerial training facility might be interested, send me their info (or send them mine).
It’s about that time of year when my calendar starts getting booked up and I’m never home…
